This Friday we finish work early and we were wondering what to do, so we decided to go the park which is close to the office.
The place was Greystone Mansion, huge place surrounded with parks. It was build in 1926 by some oil guy. The park was really nice, we were not able to get into the house but the park was big and was well maintain except some area. If you are as adventurer as I am you will try to explore any small path you will find.
So the first location of our Friday trip started
If you continue on Sunset and keep right on intersection of Doheny the road will take you to the park, the entrance is up in the hill and it is easy to miss I almost passed it twice. When I was going up to the hill, I missed it and needed to do U-turn and on the way back my co-pilot 🙂 was saying the turn is feather down and I almost missed it again. So I did really sharp turn 🙂 and almost end up in the bushes.
We park on the top of the mountain, from the parking lot there is amazing view of Los Angeles, I can imagine how nice it will be during night time, to see the shine of the city and the starts.

There are two ways getting into the main park and to the house from parking, we took south stairs which took us to the fountain through the small woods.
The fountain had lots of big read fish and funny looking turtles which were sunbathing in the pool. There was chair on the way to the fountain so people can sit and enjoy the quietness and smell of the water. Under the sun the water was shining and the fish in the water was swimming bringing the joy to people spirits. On the chair we met old couple, who was enjoying warm evening under the sun.
The whole way to the fountain was nice, everywhere there were small waterfalls and small sculptures in old Greek style. The whole park architecture was done by English architect and he mixed different styles. If you continue down the nerrow path build with red brick you will end up right in front of the house. We were not able get into the house but there is always next time :), so we walk around the house, on the south side of the building there is hidden path which goes next to the windows looks like it was path for servants or delivery people. If you will visit it try to find it you will not regret, the small part of deep forest.
If you see the grass in front of the house you will not be able resist sitting on it or laying down 🙂 so did I. It had such nice fresh smell of fresh cut grass so I even close my eyes for couple minutes and found myself dreaming. Bottom of the grass is guard house with small rose garden. The house locked occupied by current night guard.
The road from the rose garden branches into two ways one takes to old stable where they keep the service cars and other take the most broken down part of the mansion the old green house, even though it is broken down it was really interseting, they had old watering system and some dry up trees.
When I was inside I was imaging how was the time it was open, how couple lady servants were taking car of trees and man servants where turning the huge pipes to water the them. And how the house owner was coming to the garden every morning to check the flowers which just start blooming.
We were done with garden in couple hours, and it was around 5 pm so the park was closing. We packed our staff and head back to the parking on the way back one of the road took us to the area with long path with trees and fountains around on the walls.
The path leads to the small area with no exit perfect place for reading or meditating, but it has other exit which takes it to long fountain with turtles inside. The small pool was so nice that I want to jump into water and catch the turtles 😀
So we pass the pool and went to the car, tired but fulfilled from small trip. On exit I was wandering what is the street on the left so we took it, it took us to North Hollywood, and second part of our trip starts from there.
